Boat trip from Split

Not a kilometre driven today – a welcome change!  Had a boat trip organised, 8am to 6pm to the Blue Cave, Green Cave, Palmizana, Stiniva Cove and Hvra.  We joined a ‘tour group’ of 11 people for a boat ride starting from Split.  Joining tour groups is something Pam and I are not good at and it appears our fears were realized and we confirmed the fact we don’t play well with others.  There were three USA women on the boat who didn’t stop talking the whole time.  They spoke so much they didn’t hear what the guide had to say, they would then ask questions and he’d have to repeat it all over again.  They were the laughing stock of the tour but didn’t realise it because they were so caught up in their own conversation.  Needless to say Pam and I will need to be wary in the future or one of us (probably me) will say something inappropriate or one of us will toss someone over the side!!!
Anyway back to the tour.  Great tour of a number of landmarks around the islands of Split.  It was a 10 hour tour, the first section was a 1.5 hour boat ride to the Blue Cave.  Got out of our bigger boat into a small boat to cruise into the cave.  Stunning cave, it’s a geological phenomena where the light shines under the water, into the cave, reflecting off the limestone seabed into the blue water, turning the whole cave into a brightly lit blue cave.  Hard to get good photos but we tried.
Then to Green Cave, our boat could fit in, there were a couple of holes in the ceiling which let in the light and because the light was a direct source it turned the water a green colour.  Weird I know – I just believe what I’m told.
On to Stiniva Cove, a very small beach in a narrow opening of the cliff.  Not enough room to get in.  Watched as a bloke jumped from the cliff.  One of the US women asked if he did it for fun or was he paid.  The guide responded, ‘Is not for fun, is for crazy!’
Then to Palmizana for lunch and a swim.  Delicious baked bass and tuna steak for lunch, then jumped in the water, very refreshing.  On to Hvra for shopping and ice cream.  Got home on time at about 6pm.
Walked home, got the laundry and dropped it off, had a drink and pizza for tea and got home, exhausted again, at 9pm.  Not sure what we have planned tomorrow.  I’m leaving it up to Pam – think we’ll be doing some shopping in the old town?
