Kayak Lokrum Island, Dubrovnik after dark

I'm not sure how I get talked in to these things.  We were wondering what to do, I suggested kayaking may be an option.  Pam jumped at the chance and booked us for a 9.30 kayak around the Walls of Dubrovnik and around Lokrum Island, stopping for a swim and snorkel in a cave on the mainland.  A total of about 4 kilometres, dodging ships, boats and other like minded tourists.  In the end we had a very good time.  Pam took charge and made me the official photographer, meaning she had to do most of the paddling - I heard about it several times throughout the trip, but rules are rules and I'm sure she'll understand once the sore muscles mend?
The guide was very knowledgeable and stopped regularly to let some people catch up (NOT us) and to give us some history and general knowledge of the town and country.  It did wear us out, we haven't done anything like this before so it was testing muscles not tested for a while.  In the end we thought it was good value and the swim near the end was very refreshing.  We headed off at about 9.30 and were back by about 12.30.  Staggered in to town and had some lunch.  Decided to go home for a shower and change before heading back out for tea when it gets a bit cooler.

Walked home wet, hot and exhausted.  Had a shower and decided to stay home, do the washing and relax for a couple of hours.  Fell to sleep in seconds – great afternoon nap!!!  Headed back down the hill for tea, wandered around for a while, had a drink watching the boats come in then had tea and climbed up our hill to get home at about 9.30, completely and utterly exhausted.

Our cast off point

Our vessels

Just a small moment of regret?

We're away!!!

Nothing but 160 kilometres of open ocean between us and Italy

Unless we hit a rock?

Navigating through a channel in the rocks, not looking good???

In to a large cave on Lokrum Island

From inside the cave
Off again to another cave on the mainland

This one is a bit bigger, but every kayak in Dubrovnik uses it as a spot to rest for smoko and have a snorkel.

We can see why

But it is a little chaotic

In now, had smoko, time for a snorkel.
Had to selfie on the way home!
Pam having a rest on the way back

Past the swimmers on the rocks.

and the restaurants

Huge city walls

Can just see a couple of people on top of the wall.
Had to take a heap of photos because Pam kept getting her paddle in the way!!!
Still can't believe the clarity of the sea water around here!!

Tea time down town Dubrovnik

Lights on - time to go home to bed.

Past the harbour one more time.
