To town again

Slept in this morning and had to rush to get Hamish to the gym.  Got the tram into town, Frank and Hamish went off to the gym, Belinda, Pam and Toby went shopping for shoes and clothes (Pam bought some shoes for 350 Czech Crown - which sounds expensive - it equals about $AU20 - lucky I was alert and not alarmed!) and I went for a walk down to the river.  Past lots of dodgy looking casinos which were closely guarded by big ugly men in black suits with suspicious bulges under their coats.  Also walked past a number of 'Erotic City' shops, guarded by ugly women in black tights with suspicious looking bulges in their pants.....  The Erotic City franchise seems to be a boom industry in Prague, heaps of them in the city.
Survive the walk and met back for a coffee at about 10.30.
Got the tram home then Belinda and Frank suggested Pam and I head out on our own.  We were given a map and told where to go - first time we have been let loose in the city.  Walked down into Wenceslas Square, overlooked by the Good King.  Had lunch in the Jewish Quarter, it wasn't the feast of Stephen, but very nice despite that.
We decided to climb the guard tower at the end of Charles Bridge and got a great view of the city.  Walked home - on the way into town we didn't notice any decline - on the way home it was definitely uphill.  Home for beer, wine and some Vietnamese takeaway.  We did 24,000 steps today will sleep very well.

Ride in the tram

Not sure about this bloke?

A few sites on my walk to the river from the shopping centre and gym.

For those drainers in the family - a little Workplace Health and Safety tip - a couple of bits of rusty steel and a few pine logs - that should do it!!!

Good transport system of trams, complemented by the train system under the city.

Locked and loaded - and ready for anything.

The Good King Wenceslas.

and his Square

Lots of Square - more of a rectangle really.

The guardhouse at Charles Bridge

Views from the top

Charles Bridge with the Castle and Cathedral in the background.

The white building on the other side of the river on the bank is where we had lunch yesterday.

Happy Harry

Grandma in the biggest toyshop we could find next to the Transformer

Our home address - not a bad B&B in this street.
