Sound of Music in Salzburg

The hills were alive today, you guessed it – with the sound of music!!  Pam and I did the Sound of Music tour in Salzburg today.  I know, it’s a tour group thing and we don’t play well with others….however, it was a very good tour, the guide was excellent and they played bits from the movie to jog our memories when we were going to another location where the movie was made.  We didn’t meet any goat herds, nor were we 16 going on 17.  We did have a little sing-a-long which Pam joined in boisterously….not sure how you solve a problem like Pam?  We climbed every mountain and forded a couple of streams, didn’t follow any rainbows even though it was a little cloudy when we kicked off the tour at 9am, ray finally arrived in with a drop of golden sun.  We didn’t see any deer (doe or otherwise), just a couple of cows grazing high on a hill top.
Came back in to town and did the Sound of Music sights there then did our own stuff till about 6.00, had an early tea and got home about 7.30.

Just like a tourist

The palace where they all fell out of the boat and the garden where Going on 17 was filmed.

Couple of bottle of champagne, loosen the vocal chords?

This where Maria came through the gate and knocked on the door of the palace for the first time.

Just a random shot of a bull sculpture - HQ of Red Bull.

The gazebo where Going on 17 was filmed

The church in Morsee (just outside Salzburg) where the Captain and Maria were married

The organ which featured in the film.

The steps up to the altar where Maria walked to be married

Some scary sculptures in the church.

Lunch here - apple strudel and custard, delicious

The real place where the Captain and Maria were married an Abbey still occupied by nuns.

Gardens (Mirabelli Gardens), steps and fountains where Do-Re-Me was recorded.

The arbor Maria danced down.

Not quite dancing

Also featured in the movie, the entrance to the gardens.

Mozart Bridge where the children danced along

Then danced along the river.
That's all folks - for the Sound of Music business.

Mozarts birthplace

The castle overlooking the town.

Pam getting wet near the fountain in the main square.

Love locks on a bridge over the river....no we didn't!!!
